Los Angeles Summer Camps for Pre-Schoolers and Kindergarteners

There's often lots of talk about summer camps in Los Angles for teenages, tweens or school-age kids in general. But how about some L.A. summer camps the specialize in meeting the unique needs of young children?

If you are looking for a Los Angeles summer camp for your preschool or Kindergarten-aged child, you can ask your friends for referrals about where they're sending their kids to camp this summer. But here are some additional resources online to help you find a summer camp program exclusively for younger children.

A very fun and unique summer camp experience just for younger kids is Aloha Beach Camp's Keiki Camp which takes place at Paradise Cove in Malibu. Campers learn how to surf, boogie board and play in gentle surf and clean water, and enjoy Hawaiian themed beach activities under the watchful eyes of experienced camp counselors and lifeguards. Camper-to-staff ratios are as low as 3 to 1 or less. If you are looking for an untraditional camp experience your child is sure to love, Keiki Camp could be the ticket.

Camp Wise 2011, operated by Stephen S. Wise Temple, offers a summer camp program for 3 to 5 year olds. The camp is based in the San Fernando Valley portion of Los Angeles. According to the camp's website, activities include gardening, cooking, arts and crafts, music, and dance, and swimming, among others, with "qualified nursery school teachers" providing supervision.

Los Angeles Summer Camps on Facebook

When looking for a Los Angeles Summer Camp, many people begin their search on Google, which generally leads to individual camp websites. But don't forget Facebook!

A hot topic among L.A. camp directors lately has been how to design the best looking, and most informative,   Facebook pages. That means you might search for camps on Facebook in addition to Google because there you'll find many summer camp pictures and videos and comments and thoughts from other parents, kids and families who have sent, or are considering sending, their kids to the same Los Angeles summer camp as you.

Some of the Los Angeles summer camps with existing Facebook pages are Aloha Beach and Surf Summer Camp and Catalina Island Camps.

Here is the Facebook search tool to help you get started. At the bottom there is a place to "Search by Company." Just enter the camp name into the search box (if you know it).

YMCA Summer Camps Los Angeles

YMCA summer camps have been a staple of fun summer programming for years and years in Los Angeles. Some of the great benefits of attending an L.A. YMCA Camp is affordability (it won't break the bank when you sign up), location (there's a number of YMCA camps throughout the Los Angeles area), and the wide range of activities they offer. If you need some starting points for your Los Angeles YMCA camp experience, try YMCA of Metro Los Angeles, the Santa Monica YMCA or the Westside Summer Day Camp YMCA.
